Super Nintendo World:
The Ultimate USJ Guide
Universal Studios Japan (USJ) in Osaka is home to the world's first Super Nintendo World. But you can't just walk in. Here is how to guarantee entry.
Table of Contents
01. How to Get Entry (CRITICAL)
You cannot just walk into Super Nintendo World. You need a "Timed Entry Ticket" (Area Timed Entry Ticket).
3 Ways to Get In:
- 1. Express Pass (Guaranteed): Buy an Express Pass that includes Nintendo World. Expensive but guarantees entry time.
- 2. App Lottery (Free): Once inside the park, scan your ticket in the USJ App and apply for a slot. Slots run out by 10 AM.
- 3. Super Early (Risky): Arrive at the gates 2 hours before opening and run straight there.
02. Is Express Pass Worth It?
YES. If you are flying all the way to Japan, spend the extra money.
Wait times for "Mario Kart: Koopa's Challenge" can reach 180 minutes. With Express Pass, it's 10 minutes. It also guarantees your entry into the Nintendo area.
03. Best Rides
- Mario Kart: Koopa's Challenge
AR racing game. Throw shells at other karts. Absolute must-do.
- Yoshi's Adventure
Slow, scenic ride. Great for kids and photos of the park.
- Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
In the Wizarding World area. Still one of the best dark rides in the world.
04. Toad's Cafe
The food is adorable. Try the Super Mushroom Pizza Bowl or the ? Block Tiramisu.
Toad's Cafe also requires a timed ticket sometimes. Go there immediately after entering the Nintendo area to get a ticket.
05. Power-Up Bands
You can buy a wristband (¥4,200) that syncs with the app. It lets you punch blocks, collect coins, and play mini-games around the park.
Verdict: Worth it if you want the full interactive experience, otherwise skip it. It works as an Amiibo on your Switch at home!
Let's-a Go!
Buy your tickets 2 months in advance. Seriously.
